DFGF is the largest and longest running organization devoted to gorilla conservation. Trackers are a daily presence in the forests, protecting and monitoring gorilla families. They’re studying gorilla behavior. They’re educating the next generation of African scientists, funding over 400 students from universities in Rwanda and Congo, so they can learn about conservation, gorillas, science, and field research skills. They offer post-graduate internship opportunities to provide further training. Over 85 percent of the students go on to conservation related careers. Many of them work for conservation organizations. The Fossey Fund deserves a large share of the credit for bringing gorillas back from the brink of extinction.
