Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit
Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit patrols on the northern border of Zimbabwe in the Zambezi watershed, a critical area for poaching, particularly on elephants. This Anti-Poaching Unit deploys boots on the ground belonging to serious and dedicated rangers. They patrol over 1,000 miles (1609 kms) per month providing a strong disincentive to would-be poachers. Bumi Hills borders Lake Kariba, making the area especially vulnerable because poachers can enter and leave by boat. These rangers do important work in Zimbabwe, the country that holds the second largest elephant population in Africa. Visit the program and meet some of these courageous rangers.
