Tarangire National Park
Silale Swamp, Tarangire N.P.
I just returned from a few days on safari in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is famous for elephants and it never disappoints. This was my first trip to a Tanzanian National Park since the outbreak of Covid. There were very few other visitors. In three days, I saw perhaps five vehicles, each carrying only two or three tourists. Most of the time I felt like I had the park to myself. Not so long ago, I was waxing nostalgic about the “old days” when there were not so many tourists. But I must confess—this was sad. I doubt the wildlife has noticed any difference. Nature is indifferent to us which is what makes this all so wonderful—good times and bad.
