Bakavango Conservation and Education Trust

Bakavango partners with safari outfitters and safari travelers to increase local Botswana ownership in the safari business.  Deeper Africa’s Botswana colleagues David and Robin Foot saw the need for better education to help Botswana youth transition to management and ownership roles. David and Robin operate safari camps in Botswana and they started Bakavango with a grant  from the Peace Parks Foundation. The grant helped four of their staff pursue higher education opportunities.  Two of their proteges graduated from the Trackers Academy and two graduated from the South African Tourism College. Their star student graduated second in her class at the Tourism College, earning a paid internship with a master chef in Italy.  Just recently, two Deeper Africa travelers have sponsored two additional students with travel and living expenses.
