Giraffe Conservation Foundation
GCF supports giraffe conservation initiatives in 15 African countries. There are four species of giraffe: the southern giraffe, the Maasai giraffe, the reticulated giraffe, and the northern giraffe. GCF is the only organization that supports conservation of all four. They also have area specific projects. One example is protecting the Angolan giraffe, a subspecies of the southern giraffe. These giraffes have adapted to life in the Namibia desert where water is scarce, The Giraffe Conservation Foundation works within the Sesfontein Conservancy to monitor these desert dwellers. On the Namibia Explorer safari your guides are trained research assistants who follow giraffe and gather data, and Hoanib Valley Camp is a committed partner in the cause. Your safari helps support and fund this work. You can even spend time in the field with one of the teams.
