NCCDF is a community cooperative that co-owns Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge just outside of Bwindi Forest.  Profits from your stay are shared with the community, creating health clinics, as well as employment opportunities allowing local residents to benefit directly from gorilla tourism. Projects funded include profitable vegetable and livestock farms along with revenue raising initiatives such as guided walking tours and selling local arts and crafts. Walking tours provide an inside look at village life where blacksmiths craft traditional tools, medicinal plants are still used, and flour is made on stone grinders. This goes on side-by-side with modern education where young people develop skills in information technology.
