Ruaha Carnivore Project
Smart tourism protects wildlife populations and the human populations that share these wild lands. Ruaha National Park is a predator’s Eden with large populations of cheetah, hyena, leopard, wild dogs, and the second-largest lion population on the continent. The Ruaha Carnivore Project works to reduce attacks on villagers’ livestock by reinforcing bomas (livestock enclosures) and by placing guard dogs to alert herders when predators approach. And they provide funds to address needs for healthcare, education and veterinary care for livestock. In this way, tourism and conservation work together to safeguard villages and boost the economy. Your travel to Ruaha helps fund the Carnivore Project.
