The Malilangwe Trust
A Wildlife reserve is hard to justify if local people lack nourishment, medical care, and adequate schools. Near Zimbabwe’s remote Gonarezhou National Park, the Malilangwe Trust has developed an innovative way to preserve 130,000 acres of wilderness while providing the neighbors with food, medical care, and quality schools. They host one of the world’s most luxurious lodges on an exclusive reserve with some of the best game watching in the world. All of the hotel and tourism profits go to conserving wildlife and providing food, medicine, and education to neighboring families. The child nutrition program feeds 19,500 children daily. To date the Trust has provided scholarships and support to approximately 3,000 students.
